Our Story

Our story begins in 1962 when Luther and Marjorie Skelton built the Parkview Motel on Hwy 64 West. Their dream was to build a motel in Lawrenceburg. So they built a motel, sold their home and moved to the property to manage it. Not much time later, their daughter, Helen, got married. She and her husband moved in to manage the property for a few years.

The motel was sold in the 70s to another family and changed hands several times through the decades that passed.

In 2024, we (Garrett and Baylee Fincher) became the new owners of the motel.

One day we were driving down the road and passed the property and Baylee said, “That could really be such a cool place. It has so much potential.”

“You know my great grandparents built that, right?” Garrett said

“What?! No!”

“Yeah, and Meme and Pipi lived there and managed it when they first got married,” he said.

“What?!”

For probably 5-6 years we would bring up the motel and how cool it would be to own it and wondered if it would ever come up for sale.

In August of 2024 Baylee called the motel and asked to speak to the owner. “I’m the owner, what’s the problem?” he said.

“Oh, no sir, there’s no problem. I just wondered if maybe you would be interested in selling the motel.”

“Yes, I’ll sell it,” he said. He explained that he wasn’t in the best health and hadn’t been operating the motel at regular capacity since COVID and had only been doing weekly rentals. Because of his health he couldn’t clean and keep the property up. Plus his children were living in cities 3-4 hours away and he wanted to move closer to them. He told us we could come the next day to look at it.

We did. And we were just enamored at the potential that the property had. It was in rough condition. But we’ve rehabed a few personal properties of our own and could see the potential.

From August to December we were on a roller coaster of wondering if it was going to go thru, but in December of 2024 we closed on the property and started work.

We were excited to hear that the previous owner was traveling to India for a month after the sell. He hadn’t been there in 37 years and had been tied to the motel for the last 25 years and all the duties it required.

We have chosen to take a different approach and will be operating as short term rentals. We will not have a front desk to check-in. All bookings will be done virtually with door codes emailed to you for entry. We will have 20 rooms — 8 double queens and 12 single kings.

We are excited for this journey and would love for you to follow along!
